Theres a fairly clean Mustang down the street from me that Ive been keeping my eye on for a while now, and it hasnt moved in quite some time, so Im thinking I can get it cheap. I havent really looked all that close at it, hell, I dont even know if the people want to sell it, but Im gonna try. Its a black SVO, paint is faded, but could easily be brought back with a rub/wax. It looks pretty clean and solid, but the flat tire and sort of water marks down and around the tires and pavement say its been sitting there for a while now. Assuming it actually runs, but is just neglected, what is a rough market value? What should I watch out/listen for if I can talk the owner into a test drive?

edit: I guess since this is an SVO, its not technically a 4-eye, but it was made in that era. Would that make it a 2-eye?:D

SVO's are a breed apart. guys that drive them swear by them. post this in the 2.3 forum there are some die hard gurus in there. personally I wouldnt offer more than 2k for it. SVO parts are unique and if it has been sitting that long I am sure that there is a lot that will need to be replaced. that assuming that it runs.

There is a guy with a grey SVO for sale by my work. It is an original car, with 75K and the body is pretty rough. Not rusted at all, just dented and beat up everywhere!! The paint is chipping bad too. He is ASKING 6,500 for it. Not to say he will get it but that is what he is ASKING. He can ask all he wants...the car hasn't moved it months...and nobody is every seen looking at it. I would go tell that guy 1K-2K for a first offer....start low and move up.

I have seen pristine ones sell for 5-7k, but the fact is that most of them need a butt load of work
