67 Mustang Hood Clearance question for Stealth and Road Demon

  • Sponsors (?)

Back in the 80's I ran a 390 and later a 427 lowriser with a 428PI intake, and a factory 1" spacer ( if I recall correctly) and a Holley 780 carb, without problems using a 289 Hi-po style aircleaner. with a 2 1/2" tall filter. A 289 with a stealth or any other aftermarket intake shouldn't be a problem on a 67

I need to know if anyone has a Stealth inatke and a Road Demon carb on a 67 289. If so, have you expereinced any clearnace issues? What kind of air cleaner do you use?
You should fit with a drop base (be careful, too low and it hits the linkages) My car is a 66 with a 302, victor jr. intake and holley dp and it fits pretty good. Also, done forget anything on the top of the air cleaner as will make your hood look like its growing a nipple.

A friend had a 68 with a performer RPM and a Holley on a 351 with a aluminum "COBRA" oval air cleaner assembly and it fit without any clearance issues. 289/302 is a lot shorter so it shouldn't be a problem.
