95 5.0 E303 cam timing

hi i just bought a 95 5.0 and guy says has e303 cam and 1.8 roller rockers. new distributor that needs set with a light. what should the timing be on this. car has headers, and full exhaust with flowmasters, no cats aftermarket o2 sensors.

Ford says the value is 10 with the spout out

You'll get a bit more get up and go at 12 or 14 or maybe 16

You'll have to listen for ping and if you hear it .......

You'll need to back off that value by a couple and the ping most
likely will go away

i checked it and was on 10 (no spout) so put on 12 and it pings when around 4000 rpm on premium gas? i removed smog control and may remove egr valve all the lines are dry and broken so i just hooked egr back up not smog. will this help or hurt? also car has long tube headers 3 " exhaust to flows no cats, stock o2 , and 2.5 " from flows to back.
