I just recently purchased a pair of used flowmaster three chamber mufflers all set up for side exhaust (inlet and outlet on same side of mufflers) with tips and everything and was wondering what kind of x-pipe or h-pipe to get to go along with those for the best sound/most hp. I'm getting rid of cats, so if anyone has some good suggestions for me that would be great.
I have 3-chambers on my blown '96 cobra (also white, btw). I however run them out the back. (I just have them welded into the stock pipes). I run a BBK H-pipe and stock manifolds. I have some audio and video files up on my site: http://www.angelfire.com/oh5/twyatt/mustang_vids.htm The general consensus is that you want H-pipe with flows (as they are chambered). I've gotten many complements on how my car sounds, let me know what you think. The comments I've heard is that my car sounds well-tuned at idle and regular driving, but when I open it up, it sounds "crazy mean".... Have fun!
My 96, also white, had 3 chamber flows on it when I bought it. Then I put on a Bassani o/r X-pipe. It sounded like crap so I took it off and sold it. I was you I would go with an h-pipe with the flows, especialy if you are going off road. I have to actually sell my car and am in desperate need of a stock h-pipe from a 1996. I will pay you for it and am located in Arizona. Let me know if I can take it off your hands.
