the cobra 4.6 4V motor will be able to move more air than the GT 2V motor, so it will make better use of any mod than the GT.

+1, PLus i think that the Sn95 (96cobra) is a little lighter in over all weight.. i could be wrong, but i guess every little bit counts....

    4v is just plain

Definatly the Cobra, has more power out of the box and the 4V responds really well to power adders.

Does the KB kit for the 96 include an intercooler

    -and--

Are we talking actaul boost measured on a boost gauge or are we talking same size pullies?

The reason that I ask is that with positive displacement blowers (more than with centrifugals) boost is a product of the engine's inability to aspirate the volume of air being displaced by the blower.

So... Since the 4V Cobra is able to aspirate more air than the 2V, it's blower would need to displace more air in order to achieve the same by-product (boost in lbs) and would be aspirating a considerably larger amount of air. In other words: the same sized blower on the 4v would need to spin faster and work harder in order to achieve the same boost pressure as the 2V.

If both are intercooled, it's the Cobra hands down. If only the 2V is intercooled then it would at least have an advantage in the amount of timing it could run even if it wasn't aspirating as much air as the Cobra.

Daggar, stop clouding opinions with facts! KB does not make an intercooler kit for 96-98 Cobras. I dont think any of the positive displacement blowers offer an intercooler for the 96-98 4V.

The 96-98 Cobra kits dont have an aftercooler where you can get one for the GT kit. Either way the cobra will win more power stock and makes more power with mods.

I didn't think there was an intercooler for those cars but didn't want to make the blanket statement without being sure....

So... NOW we're talking about 8psi (as read by the gauge) on a non-intercooled 4V vs. 8 psi on an intercooled 2V.

Hmmmmm.... That might make things a bit closer.

If both motors are stock, I'd prolly still tip my hat to the Cobra. We are after all, only talking about 8 lbs. and that 4V would still be ingesting a lot more air at 8 lbs than the 2V... granted, the air density from the intercooler will make up for some of that and should be running more timing.

Could be closer than some folks think. All I really know for certain is that those 4.6s respond EXCEPTIONALLY well to an intercooled positive displacement blower.

I'd love to do some side by side dynos.

it would be really close if both motors were running at the same rpm. I know mine is pulling hard when it hits the rev limiter. who knows what it could do with another 1000 rpm, assuming the 4 v rev's to 7000 and the 2 v to 6000

good race... cobra wins unless he flails somehow. my opinion. he's got more stock power and more rpm band to work with.

from a roll i'd say def the cobra from a stop it can go either way...the driver of the gt has to be on top of his game from a stop to get the edge...but if the cobra driver is better the cobra will eat em up:nice:
