Still learning my (new to me) used 97 Cobra. Did they all have a independant rear suspension? It appears that mine does and if so I ordered the wrong Eibach Prokit (SN95).

The car has many mods including suspension, which will beat you to death on a marginally rough road. The front springs have a tag (CCC 8725/70.0) any ideas on that?

I'm trying to improve the ride & any info appreciated.

    Thanks
    Doug

Are you sure? My 97 doesnt have irs. From what I have heard only the newer cobras have that. Mine rides alot different than my old 94 t-bird with irs. You could try adjustable struts. that way you could set them for your personal preferences. Good luck

All Cobras previous to '99 came with a solid rear axle. None had independant suspension. You have a solid axle too. :nice:

Like was said earlier 93-98 Cobras all came with a solid rear axle from the factory. 99-04 Cobras have the Indepentant rear suspension (IRS). It's possible the owner did a swap but you would they would have told you.

Here's a picture of a soild rear axle (93-98 Cobras)

Here's one of the IRS (99-04 Cobras)

If you need more take a look at your exhaust, for the soild the exhuast will curve up and over the axle

The IRS will look like this, going under the diff, toward the rear tires and then towards the rear bumper.

    Hopefully the visual comparision helps
Let us know what you find.
