Just bought a 98' gt. I would like to put AFS 03' cobra replica wheels on it, size 17x10.5 wheels in the back with 315-35-17 size tires, but I am not sure if they will fit. For the front, 17x9 wheels with 275-40-17. I have heard yes and no, but no proof. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Front(+26mm with 6.11" backspacing)
Rear (+27mm offset with 6.9"backspacing).

they will fit..but barely! I have the afs wheels...just went 17x8 in the front..you may have some clearance issues there...I am not sure..but in the rear..you will have clearance..it will be about a half inch, and when you make a turn into a driveway or something on a slant, you are going to rub on the underside. I have pics on my page of the wheels...If I were home, I would take some pics of the rubbing spots and send them to you. When I buy my next tires..I am only going about 295 or so..just to stop the rubbing issue..

Mine fit but as 98stangv8 said BARELY in the back but they fit. I went with the 17x9 in the frount with 275's and had no clearence problems. I felt as though my car handled like a champ after that. Good luck and they should fit.

I have 18x9 fronts and 18x10 rears on my car with 265/35/18s front and 295/35/18s on rear and my car is lowered 2 inches... I've never had a tire rub... I've seen a few 96-98's with 315's some rubbed... some didnt... the ones that didnt had rolled the inside of the back fenders.

Heres my piece of ****. Lowered on sportlines, 315/35/17's out back, rubs like a mofo. Hammered the **** out of some stuff on there and it didnt as much

i'd like to see some pics of the 03 cobra wheel on a 96-98 too.

Here's mine with Ford's (not AFS) '03 Chrome Cobras in 17x9", 275/40/17 all around and no problems with rubbing in front or back. IMO, the 17x9" size rims should have been the standard 17" wheel option on all late model stangs. They fit so great underneath, but if you can handle the extra clearance issues with the 10.5" in rear, that look is BA.

exact same wheels/tires as, not as low though-^
fenders are rolled, the only time the tires scrape is when i turn thru a dip @ 25-30mph+, front wheels don't rub at all at full turn.

The car looks extremely sweet! That is what I am going to put on mine is 18x9 & 18x10.5's sometime next year. Can you do me a favor though and take a picture of the back of the car so that I can see if they sit flush with the rear fender or how far off they still are?

I believe only in putting on widest tires if you have somthing to back it up. Getting fat tires because they look good without any mechanical need is just posin imo. 285 is wide enough. heck 245 and some lca's & practice is good enough
Not flamin, just stating a opinion.
450hp cars could use em but a 240hp car, 315 is just overkill

where the hell did all you sn95's come from?! You guys all posted pictures here that I have been looking for for a while. I thought I was one of the few '94 - '98 body styles.. I am saving for the SSR GT3s with 18 x 10.5 rear and 18 x 9's in the front with the 295 rear and 265 front.. Don't want to push it in the rear.. Don't like tires that "barely" fit..
