Sorry to ask what is probably a stupid question but I am new to Mustangs. Just purchased the car and want to do a complete swap of the fluid.
My Hanes manual says to use Mercon for 98 and older.
My dipstic for the tranny says Mercon V.
Which do I use in this tranny.

Also, how difficult is it to remove the plug from the torque converter and drain it.
Anyone have a good link w/ pics and instructions on how to do this.

I want to use Mobile 1 ATF when I refill but is there any issues in doing this that others have had.
And how many quarts will I need if I drain the converter as well.

    Thanks.

you need mercon V - there was a recall for the tranny fluid, and just about all SN95's should really have mercon V
