99 Cobra Trany Fluid Change

    Hey. I want to switch out the tranny fluid on my car w. (Royal Purple fluid), is it a pretty easy process i can do myself or do i have to take it to a dealership... Thx

    Yeah, it's pretty easy to do yourself. After you get the car elevated, look for the plugs with a square hole. They're made for a 3/8 ratchet drive to fit... there's one on either the bottom or the side at the bottom to drain and one about halfway up on the trans case to refill it. I can't remember which side it's on, though! Those pumps they sell at parts stores work well for the refill. I'm pretty sure the Haynes manual shows where the plug locations are and capacities.

    you can also fill your tranny by taking your shifter off that my prefered way of doing it. I drain the tranny, take the fill plug out and then remove the shifter. The fill the tranny till it runs out the fill plug or you put in the specified amount. A little extra work to get the shifter off but so much easier not to dick around trying to fill it from under the ****.
