i was coming home from work bout one a.m. and i heard a hissin noise coming from my driver side tire. the hissin quit and it started pullin hard to the left, then a thump thump thump. i drove it to the bp cause it wasnt to far and the spare was flat, jacked it up and put air in it, the tire popped back on the rim, but when it got to 20 psi air was coming out of the base of valve stem. i figured if i hurried i could make it home. didnt make it a mile. tire's toast on the upside a nice fellow in a ranger took me home
i did the same thing not too long ago at the lake, many miles from home in the mountains.had no spare or jack, had to call my dad to pick them up and bring them to me. got a whole new set of tires when i got back to the city.
It happened to me in my youth with an unusual European rim. When you have a new valve stem installed, inspect the circumference around the hole. You might have a burr which contributed to the issue. Good luck.
