i'm looking for the stickiest tire i can get for my street car, 17" rim. around the 285/40/17 size.. thats what i use now.

its in a lighter notch, around 2700 pounds. i have plans for 400+ rwhp but now at 320 i get NO traction. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are hopeless.

so, what do you guys with high hp notches run on the street? im not expecting to drop it in first and grab, but i need something better..

this is dangerous now, i almost lost it last night in 4th on a hard shift.

It's not a good time of year to bother with sticky tires (idk where you live) but unless youre doing John force burnouts when you leave the driveway, nothing will be sticky

BFG makes the KDW which is the best street tire that size...well actually 275/40-17. I was having traction issues with my cobra and like you said around the 300 mark they get loose at the top of 2nd which is scary at times and that tire solved alot of my problems. They are very sticky right out of the driveway.. Hope that helps.. Oh yeah and they look SICK

I have around 2,000 miles on my et street radials and they have pretty much had it. Thats with around 10 track passes and 100 street passes.

Ive had all 3 drag radials on my car, and the mickeys are the best, BFG's offer no traction, i could spin the tires powershifting into 3rd for as long as i stayed in the throttle. and i got mabye 2000 miles out of them. They still had some life left in them but i switched back to mickeys, those tires are great. Good luck getting 5000 miles on them though. What kills drag radials is spinning them though, if you dont haze the tires all the time, they will last. When i had the blower on my car with a lackluster suspension setup, i got 2000 miles out of the mickey's.

But i put a brand new set of them on my car, and if im in second and stand on it the car will hook. 1st on the street is a waste of time, but i didnt expect it to hook up on the street.

my votes for M/T's also. but then you gotta relearn to drive with 4.10's!I find it weird now to drive this car and no more burn outs almost on demand in 1-3gear like that coupe was. Also i never took off in 1st and sometimes i would take off in 3rd on the street! Track was 1st gear at 5800 what a rush that was! peace

MT ET Street Radials - if you are doing a lot of track time
Goodyear GS-D3's if you do more street driving. My buddy with an 03 cobra with twin turbos putting down around 600hp runs these and he has no problem with them, and they last well past 5k miles.

    ok. thanks for the input.

last weekend i bought a set of 285/40 bfg kdw's. i think i will try them before i get any of the really expensive/sticky tires. i gotta atleast burn these off before i buy a third set of tires. :nice:
