So I figured we'd stop the BDT thread hijack before it got out of hand....

We got out of N.C. late, survived the road trip through the Smoky mountains, Knoxville, Nashville, STL, and back-country S.E. Iowa on the way to S.W Iowa without the notorious Hedman hedders on my trusty 351W in the "Grape Ape" burning another plug wire.....

Only mishaps involved a couple of unexpected turnarounds and a near-case of semi-lost keys....

Can't seem to upload any pics on this super-dial up rural internet service so stay tuned for pics of unduly proportional largemouth bass and possibly a sighting of Cowgirl Tink wearing a FORD oriented coat!! :)

Jeeze, the Big Blue Q hasn't gotten DSL out to your part of Iowa yet??? That's weird; they covered almost every single dinky little rural town (that they service) in rural Arizona at least a full year before they caved under pressure from a campaign (organized but somebody I wouldn't know) to get DSL service in my subdivision - right in the middle of Yuma!

Just weird that some "future markets" guru (living in a hermetically sealed cubicle in downtown Denver) didn't send out a survey team to count all the cattle at your folks' place; in order to generate a "prospective market demographic report" that said we needed to plant a DSL terminal in your southeast quarter section! They're really up to speed that way........ :nonono:

EDIT: Was so busy griping about my employer's marketing nimrods that I forgot to comment on your post!

1.) I've seen some grossly oversized largemouth bass -and even bigger-mouthed fishermen- coming out of the few reservoirs along our section of the Colorado River; but I'll look forward to seeing your Northern Largemouth. And I have to ask, did Trish recover her A&M flip-flops from the mud???

2.) The "Ford jacket on the Chevy girl" pic intrigues me. But the big victory will come if she ever decides the '73 Cougar is "decent". Maybe, maybe if and when I can finally get it together "my way"! (As opposed to the IPO's style)

Cowgirl Tink on SVT's s/n

Tink ATK:
I think plans for the Cougar are fine, if you'll remember that if the IPO had not given up the car, I was going to use my means to make it your guys' anyway, but that was vengence and other stuff. :uzi:

But I digress- Yes my A&M fliplops were recovered from the mud (as fond of my future college I am do you really think I'd leave em behind for anything?!):nice:

Between SVT's camera, my camera, and oh even better his mom's camera I will have all kinds of pictures to post once we get back to DSL land and away from dial up. Half the reason why I'm on SVT's name, cuz it would have taken 2 more hours to log out of his name and back in under my own.

Been able to go out and help chores, like feeding and checking heifers with Grandpa and Dad. And oh btw- we eat very meal and then some here, all very good food!!!:nice: :nice:

We went to the track last night to watch his dad race after we worked on the car all day, still had it ready apprximately 2 hours prior to the load and haul time, so that went okay. His dad placed 11th on the feature. His mom takes pictures professionally for the drivers,so she wandered quite a bit.

All in all having a blast; Course getting to spend time with SVT is the main highlight.

SVT's comment: DSL has made it to town but not the 8 miles past town to mom and dad's so...

One post, three responses......

I don't remember if you were in town when Denver came up with the idea that a DSL box would be profitable if placed at the corner of 8th Street and Hope Avenue. Yeah, we were gonna make $ Millions selling HSI to Teresa Bucsko's mom, Mike Britain (before he moved to Texas), 25 Cocopah indians and about 300 head of goats and veal calves.

NO explosions, high speed car chase, propane powered potato guns and various other conniptions of mayhem and amokery and YOU have the brassies to title this thread "ADVENTURES"???? :nono: :nonono:
Hey Fritz, we've progressed beyond propane power for potato guns. The new standard (developed by a plumber) is MAPP gas! There are a few provisos, however:
1.) You must increase barrel length and avoid firing immediately over dry brush :flame: Reminds me of pictures of myself firing off Winchester "white box" reloads through my 4" .44Mag. If you're close enough to your prey, you can kill it, skin it and flash-fry it all with one trigger pull.
2.)Install a second (larger) piece of PVC pipe around your expansion chamber. This precaution is equivalent to putting a scattershield around the C4 tranny you put behind that fire-breathing 700 HP World Products 460W.
3.)Newly instituted FAA reg's mandate that you keep the elevation angle of your barrel less than 35* above the horizon; unless prior permission has been obtained from the local Air Traffic Control Center.

Can't you get the Verizon Air Cards out there?!
Verizon???? I think I'd rather put a bluetooth dongle on my computer and got through my Sprint phone than pay what Verizon charges!

Hey, I love this place!
A.J. comes back from the sandbox, get's on here, and his thread gets immediately 'jacked; just like he never left! :p
This is what I'd call family! :D

This is a Threadjack: Please exit the Topic slowly and no one will be alarmed. :D

Besides, it's ok. SD just pull rank on him!

But sneriously. Have a few friends, industrial parks or travel a lot. They use those cards, and it's only 50 a month unlimited. Seem to work pretty well. Faster than base DSL but slower than Cable.

SVTCobra: My Hookers used to burn wires like it was their job. I think I could've spent the extra few hundred for a ceramic coated set from a decent company than run the Hookers after burning 3 sets of wires. Nothing tops when I had a small electrical fire. Down at a friends shop, and some kids started yelling fire and ran for his fire extinguisher. Of course I just yanked the positive lead and we were good.... They almost cost me a whole lot of cleaning.

Underhood fires? Yeah, those are lots of fun...... When the XR-7's engine rebuild was "completed" by the PO (I used quotes around that because I didn't like what was not done after a very good shortblock overhaul) there was a carb fire involved in getting it running. The typical timing/fuel issues; plus the puddle of gas sitting on top of the 2 bbl intake, inside the "4 barrel into 2 barrel spacer/funnel"
So now I get to spend a bunch of time cleaning "Purple K" (the powder from Class B fire extinguishers) out of the Holley! Oh well, it undoubtedly needs a gasket overhaul, anyway. I'll get a bucket of carb cleaner, and I saved the old toothbrushes the last time Mrs StDr bought new ones for the family; so I'll spend some time scrubbing on it while it's all apart.
I'd almost get an E'brock carb to match the #2750 intake that's going on the motor; but I think the Holley is salvageable (it was new-in-the-box when put on after the engine was rebuilt), and I'm apparently one of the few whose had better luck with Holley 4160's than with Carter AFB's.

Dammit!:fuss:
Oh well, so much for launching our own "STANGNET SATELLITE" into orbit!:nonono:
And for our first "manned" mission into space I was gonna launch the GBM....he's small enough and being half-baked already he probably wouldn't burn up on re-entry!

Well, since the kids didn't get a chance to go online tonight, I guess I'll post an update.

Cowgirl Tink and SVTCobra306 left Massena this morning for Washington D.C. to visit with an old friend of AJ's. With a new set of plug wires - seems AJ bragged to loudly about the headers not burning plug wires on the trip; so they decided to burn 2-3 while in his hometown. New wires and "On The Road Again".

Or not.

More plug wire troubles; which in fact turned out to be ignition module troubles. And even then it wasn't cut and dried; as the guy at O'Reilly Auto Parts in Ottumwa, Iowa was pretty doggone sure that the module was testing okay. BTW: How many remember that Ottumwa is the home of Radar O'Riley? Just makes one wonder...

Anyway, AJ prevailed upon the guy to sell him a new module (Apparently AJ didn't have to rip the stuffing out of Radar's teddy bear) and they were moving again. Last I heard they were stopping at a McDonalds in Peoria Illinois; don't know how far they were going on tonight.

Now, the "fine print": I got this information from Tink with SVT in the background on her speakerphone as they were pulling into Mickey D's. My phone was also on speakerphone as there was a member of the local constabulary driving in the lane next to me; and I didn't want to be hearing about any "distracted driving". :nono: So, anything I messed up was for that reason.

And I didn't even ask about Tink's comment about "Irish moments"........

OK so we successfully made it into DC without further mishaps!!! Almost got runover by an impatient trucker, but overall made it through the mountains OK! Pics will be up tomorrow of the confirmed sighting of the distinctly chebby-oriented Tink wearing what appears to be a Ford (Mustang) jacket..... :SNSign:

Oh, and slim jim's are bad for being stuck in a truck for hours on end:notnice:

Road trips are awsome.

Armature Thread Jack

Actually i have had pretty good luck with the Holley brand, never ran a carter afb but my pops used to run one on his challenger, he never could keep the thing tuned in right. Never had any luck with an edelbrock carb, but i like their intakes.

Okay; comments on the slideshows:
You've got to put some names to "the Iowa pics"; although I'm pretty sure I know Mom is!

So who's birthday was it? Who's baby is that? And what was the karaoke song?

Ive herad of "cars in barns", but next to them? And were any of them big Stangs; or were they all AMX's? (Look like all AMX's)

You are! You are wearing a Ford jacket! :D

Why were the Fairy Godmothers at the party????

I'm sorry you inherited my talent for catching BIG fish.

The pic of you driving the Grape Ape looks like it was shot along I-44 between St Looie and the greater Waynesville/St Robert metroplex! Somewhere west of St Claire, I think.

And, how did one of t_chelle16's cats end up in AJ's truck???????
