Hi guys, I measured the pushrod length as 6.400" and have been driving the combo for about 500 miles with no issues besides a little tickety tick from the valvetrain. All my internet research is coming back that the 165's use a stock-length (6.272") pushrod. It seems though that this information pertains to the old-style 165's, not the new ones. I don't think the valve height has changed, but I wanted to see what others are running.
I realize that cam base circles as well as head gasket thicknesses vary, but just out of curiosity, what pushrod length are you guys running with the *NEW* style AFR 165's on a stock shortblock? We are using a 6.400" pushrod with a .039" gasket and an FTI (Comp Cams-based) cam.
