hey guys, i got a 3g out of a taurus this weekend from the salvage yard. i took it to an alternator shop to get it reclocked and the guy who reclocked it said my brushes were done. i went and got it tested at autozone and it passed all the tests. would the brushed effect the way the alternator tests or will it still pass even though the brushes are bad?
also, i see i can buy new brushes for less than $10 but the salvage yard i went to has a return policy. so i need to decide if i should just replace the brushes or go exchange the alternator for another but i might just go through this again. are worn out brushes pretty common in junk yard alternators?
