Hello. I am installing an amp in my 1999 Mustang. I am using the factory head unit so I already bought a line converter (to get the required RCA cables). My question is where can I install the remote wire to turn the amp on/off? I checked all of my fuses with a test light and every single one lights up with the key off. I need a fuse that only lights up with the key on and with the key backwards to wire the remote wire to. In other words, I need a wire to tap in to that only is active when the key is on or backwards. I am thinking the cigarette lighter? Can someone please help?

I normally use the accessory wire that is found in the factory radio plug. I can't remember the color, but if you have a test light you can find it. The other option is to use a constant 12v wire and install a switch.

Buy a line level with auto turn on,it senses a slight voltage and gives a remote out.

The color of the wire probably depends on the year / model of the car. You can try to call Crutchfield, tell them you are having problems finding the accessory wire for your radio, tell them the year/model and they will most likely know the answer. You could also try calling any car-audio shop around as they would know too.

    For a 99-Stang I think they were black/green or red/black wires.

Or go to radio shack, buy a wire harness for radio, open it, look at instructions, close it and return it. 8^)

    There is also always google!
