I'm about to get a mtx amp for my subs and i'm a newb at wiring them up. I understand how, but was wondering where i should run the power cable through the firewall. Should i drill a new hole or run it through the same hole as the speedo cable or what? And where is a good place to ground it in the back of the hatch? Wiring hiding places?
In my mustang...i drilled a new hole for the power wire and put in a gromet. before that i had it running through the steering shaft hole.as for the ground anywhere thats bare metal..no paint or dirt....in the trunk will be a good place. on the taillight panel is a good spot...out of the way also. when you wire everything up.....make sure you have the power on the opp. side of the car than the rca's.....tend to have more noise in the system when there close together.
I have 4 ga. wiring running through where the steering column is. If you do that, make sure, with the car on, you still have lock to lock turning ability with no restrictions. For a ground, since I am almost at 2000 watts, I decided to drill a new ground hole and rivet the ground directly to the chasis of the car.
