any way to tell?

I just bought some gears of my buddy. he found them laying in his garage in a box with loads of dust on it. he said he doesnt remember if they are 3:73 but hes almost possitive. they are like brand new too. is there ne way to tell by looking at the gear itself to tell what size it is?

count the teeth on the ring and divide by the teeth on the pinion

its also stamped on the ring gear just look for it..
