lol i wish it was some type of cool button with hidden nos. no it doesnt light up at all, the car came with an aftermarket alarm that someone seems to have "manually" disabled, but the light for that is a cool blue strip on the a-pillar. other than that the car came with two suspicious drill holes on top of the dash and to the right of the gauges, those holes probably belonged to a tach or something. as for the little red light, im clueless. i havent seen any other car with one so im stumped.

so you think its from the alarm? damn, i was hoping for hidden features  another quick question, what is my tach supposed to redline at? the car came with an aftermarket gauge kit and i dont know if its correct.

you have SVT gauges that redline at 6800/6850. redline is at 6k, revlimiter is at 6050

That is the light alarms come with, looks like an Ungo or Audiovox. It may have been disconnected in favor of the upgraded light, but thats what it is for is an aftermarket alarm.

lasersvt - i guess ill just leave the little light there in order to avoid a hole in the dash :p the other light they put in is a**loads sexier, its like a clear flame pod that does the whole knightrider light sequence in blue. alarm dont work for ****, but you can see the lights from 30-40 feet away so it makes people nervous lol

    EDIT: s h i z is censored??

Ya know a Viper 350 is only like 170-200 installed or like 120 for the unit if you know how to put it in. Chances are the alarm in there alredy has the relays hooked to the five wire for the locks and thats the hardest part of the install. The Vipers output could light the red light AND the fancy light. Whats wrong with the alarm you have?

no the tach and gauges are completely unmarked, theyre fully aftermarket cuz they come with the little module mounted below that changes the face color from green to blue and varying intensities. no SVT or Ford markings for that matter, but im pretty sure now that theyre meant for cobra applications.

well the alarm the car has now seems pretty high end, whatever it is, i can see all the relays and modules placed in the right places, BUT when i opened up the hood, the siren wires were mysteriously cut, which leads me to believe that this car was once 1. stolen 2. the dealer (shady russian used car salesmen, sold it to me with a bad head gasket  ) cut the alarm cuz they didnt receive a fob or remote. I only received the main ignition key to the car, no spare, no fob or alarm remote. I could probably reuse the system it has now if i found a fob for it and reinstalled the siren.

Yeah, all ya gotta do is find the name of the alarm then find a shop that carries that brand. They can get or will have on hand a new remote for it and can program it to the alarm. Then all you have to do is reconnect the siren wires and your all good, he probly unpluged the connector to the module. The alarm must not have the starter disable hooked up or the car would not start. A remote will run $25-$150 depending if its a two way paging system with an LCD remote or if its just a base system. Prolly another $25 to program, thats what we used to charge.

yea im really gonna look into what brand the alarm is so i can track a fob down. im heading off to college soon and phoenix is notorious for auto theft :( how do you go about programming the fob? is the procedure specific to the alarm??

on a side note, i managed to program my parents ford remote fobs for their 98 expedition to my car so the fob controls both cars' locks (locked my keys in once....had to get a cop to slim jim, needed a better way to open it lol). does this mean that the alarm system is completely disabled since the stock remote locking system is still intact?

thx for all the help :D

looks kinda like the little red l.e.d. that came with my lc-1 wideband used during calibration, the holes could have been put there to mount a wideband gauge.

The stock Ford fob working does not have any connection to the aftermarket one. As far as programming it is alarm specific. Find the valet swich, it should be under the steering wheel or on the kick pannel or hidden by the fuse box. It will eaither be a small toggle switch or a small black button. If its a small black button then its a DEI system ie: Viper, Hornet, Wasp and a few others so any of thoes shops can do it. If you find the model number you can prolly get the user manuel online and it will give you the programming sequence. You need the model number to get the right remote anyway.

P.S. If you find the make and model you can usually find the remote on ebay for 10-20 bucks.
