Anyone with experience with '88ish Bronco II's?

Well i got the ol'heap today....stike one is a leaking gas tank

Aside from that, so far it runs and drives like a champ. It is a different experience to drive for sure...the steering is REAL touchy and it steers really quick for a truck. I've had it to about 60mph and it ran like a typical truck.

I was thinking JB Weld? It's up top on the tank i think so i might have to drive it and run the gas out and then drop the tank to get to it.

It does have some typical rust...it's ugly as sin but if you saw what i traded for it, i'm actually stepping up in the looks dept...lol. I'll get some pics of the monstrosity up later tonight.

I see about 20 cans of flat black spray paint in my very near future :D

Ok you guys can officially chalk up one for being right...this thing is a complete piece of F'in crap.

Ok....to it's credit, it does run fantastic....it starts up and drives as well and smooth as my '98 Cherokee so that's half of why i was attracted to it. Unfortunately, i had to find out in the middle of an ice storm that it has no heat and no defrost....and to top all that off, it damn near killed me and my gf coming up to a red light at an intersection when the F'in BRAKES WENT OUT....just dropped dead to the floor and i had nothing...

So, i slammed it into first, and that only slowed us down, so i made a quick look to my left and right and saw an opening and floored it and ran the light, dodging traffic the whole way through. Then proceeded to 3 different gas stations, non of which had any F'in break fluid, so i drove the next 3 miles with no brakes (talk about interesting) until i got to the station right by my house and they had some.

To put it short i'm really let down. To be honest i think they're pretty rad little trucks and i had my hopes up on this one. I did take it for a thorough test drive but apparently i didn't drive long/far enough. I picked this up from a friend of mine and i talked to him after the defrost incident and he said we could trade back if i wanted, and after the brake incident that's a definite. I'm just glad nobody got hurt.

These F'in things should all be outlawed and crushed into tiny little F'in cubes.

end rant.

Well i'm gonna get under it today and poke around for a broken line or something. It's a damn shame because the thing drives and runs so good, but i don't wanna dump a bunch of money into it (that defeats the goal of a cheap beater). I dunno we'll see, i'll post an update later tonight.

Ok guys so i have to take back some of what i said...all is not so lost. As it turns out, it was a really simple fix (although pretty frustrating to actually get accomplished) with an old rusty brake line had rusted a hole and was leaking. So i replaced all the brake lines from the master cylinder to the front brakes (the backs are already new) and now she stops on a quarter (i don't think it ever stopped on a dime).

So far aside from that, i've driven it from Cincinnati to Dayton twice and it runs like a champ. Today i had the radiator/coolant system flushed and i did an oil change and tune up and it runs even better. I'm a little surprised at how many negative responses i've gotten about how they run....but then again this one only has 105XXX miles on it so after another 100k i might be seeing some issues....but hey, you can't beat that right?

Another funny thing about it, is how much attention it gets! People all over the place, like people who don't even seem like car guys are coming up to me at gas stations and getting all excited about it. Most of them had them years ago so they must have been pretty popular. Overall i'd say i'm pretty pleased with it so far.

My next 2 days off i'm probably going to rattle can paint it...it's white and is pretty crappy looking but i think with a little paint i can make it look pretty rad for a beater.

dude......

:worthlesb

is this thing lifted or something because although mine looked ok, they really look awsome with muffer sticking out of the fenders with flares on it and a light bar. mine had keystone classic wheels and road hugger tires and a set of bad shocks that sagged about 3 inches lower than normal.

No lift but it's still got a solid 20 inches or so of ground clearance....it sits higher than my Cherokee. It's a beater through and through but for some reason i'm totally in love with it :rlaugh:

Here's a quick shot of the deathwagon. Tomorrow weather permitting it's getting a paint job :rlaugh:

And yes, being factory white means it's got the Porno Red interior...lol

Yeah it's got some rust but oh well, i'll probably bash the hell out of it on the trails this summer anyways. I'm gonna rattle can it black and paint the wheels probably black as well. It should look pretty killer :D
