Ok guys so i have to take back some of what i said...all is not so lost. As it turns out, it was a really simple fix (although pretty frustrating to actually get accomplished) with an old rusty brake line had rusted a hole and was leaking. So i replaced all the brake lines from the master cylinder to the front brakes (the backs are already new) and now she stops on a quarter (i don't think it ever stopped on a dime).
So far aside from that, i've driven it from Cincinnati to Dayton twice and it runs like a champ. Today i had the radiator/coolant system flushed and i did an oil change and tune up and it runs even better. I'm a little surprised at how many negative responses i've gotten about how they run....but then again this one only has 105XXX miles on it so after another 100k i might be seeing some issues....but hey, you can't beat that right?
Another funny thing about it, is how much attention it gets! People all over the place, like people who don't even seem like car guys are coming up to me at gas stations and getting all excited about it. Most of them had them years ago so they must have been pretty popular. Overall i'd say i'm pretty pleased with it so far.
My next 2 days off i'm probably going to rattle can paint it...it's white and is pretty crappy looking but i think with a little paint i can make it look pretty rad for a beater.
