Are platinum plugs worth it??

    Going to get new motorcraft plugs tomorrow. I am thinking maybe the Bosch plugs may be the cause of my miss. Are the platinum ones any better..I think there is one higher than platinum also. I have the cash so it is not as if it is a money issue. Just heard good things and bad things(platinum burns off, blocks flow) about them and want to get what is best for my baby

    Copper is the best for N/A.

    Copper is a better conductor of electricity than platnium (second only to silver) and the ignitions were designed for copper plugs

    Platinum plugs are nice only if you don't wanna mess with em. I put some platinum plugs in my Mustang because I didn't want to have to change them, I think they've been in there for well over a year now.

    All my N/A cars has done good on platnium plugs even my 93' 2.3L LX. Its up to you if you want to run them or not :) Now as fair as turbos go, only run none platnium MotorCraft plugs.

    That's about the only benefit of plat plugs. They were designed with the 100K mile tune up in mind. Imagine how marketable it would be if you had a car you didn't have to do maintainence for 100,000 miles on.

    My Mark 8 had the 100K mile tuneup deal. When had 75K miles when i got her. I took a peek and the plat plugs were in terrible shape. I tossed them in the trash and put some coppers back in.

    But how hard is it to change plugs on a 2.3L? It takes only a few mins so what's the point?

    Which 2.3L lol

    The DP DIS 2.3L is a hair more time consuming than your typical 4 plug 2.3L(T) head.

    I never ran platinum plugs.
    Even with my blistering 18.2 I wasn't running platinums.

    When I rebuilt the motor in my other car I was foolish emough to buy into the platinum hype. The motor has about 3k on it now. Before I sell the car I will check one of the +4 plugs to see how they hold up. When I think about it it don't make much sense when the regular plugs are cheaply replaced if you screw up the tune or while gapping, don't seem to perform any worse, and it's good to have that peace of mind once in awhile that there are brand new plugs in the motor...

    I've always ran Autolites on all my cars. Never tryed anything else.
