Driving to my buddies house last night my clutch cable went out. I was just going into second gear and hear a "pop" come from under the dash.. then no pedal pressure at all.

I have the steeda adjustable qaudrant kit on it. My question is, could it be possible the cable isnt broken and just popped off somewhere? If so, where should I look for that? If it is indeed broken, am I required to order the steeda cable? Or can I pick up an OEM replacement from autozone tomorrow and fix the thing?

I need to get this car going again since my buddy was too drunk to drive me back to my house... instead he gave the keys to his roush 380R. Apparently, I wasn't cool enough to barrow his Lightening  Either way, having that car in my driveway is making me a little un-easy.

ahhh lol that hapened to me a couple weeks ago.

If it did come unhooked at the quadrant you can un hook the cable at the fork so there is slack on the cable and push the cable so the slack would come up under the dash, then crawl under the dash and reach WAY up and try to feel for the cable. If you cannot find it, it is probably snapped, and if it did snap there is probably debris from it by your feet. My guess is that it just unhooked under the dash.

DO NOT buy autozone's or any other local auto places clutch cables. I bought 2 one day when mine snapped so I could limp it home. Neither of them fit. I ended up ordering a cable from mustangs unlimited and it fit just right. Your luck may be different however

    Good luck:nice:

sounds like a broken cable. just follow the clutch pedel up till you see the blue quadrant. only way the cable would come off is if you had alot of dead pedal. either case if the cable snapped i would get another steeda, stocks are garbage. as for the stock cable workin with the steeda quadrant it will work but not gonna be as smooth as a steeda but thats jmo.

OEM Ford "universal" clutch cable is available from Maximum Motorsports for about $75 shipped. I think 50resto has the same cable now for about the same price, but if you look for the "direct fit" one (basically, it just includes the bracket, whooptie-doo) it costs at least twice as much.

Ford cable + aluminum quad + firewall adjuster = :nice:

Well, Im gonna attempt to drive this thing back to my house without the clutch. Im going to wait until its late so the traffic has a chance to die down. Its about a 20 mile drive with 17 miles being HWY (no stops)

As far I understand it, I can start the car with it in first and give it gas to take off. Slowly pull the sifter into the next gears and etc. My only concern is downshifting and how that will work out... I understand i have to shut the car off and restart it if I come to a stop and I just installed a new starter last week, but not an OEM one. Its a newer starter thats rapid succession and about 1/2 the size of the OEM one.... Im hoping its just as or more powerful, but im not sure. We'll see if Im able to do this. Any suggestions????
