I ordered some Magnaflows and received them today. I got one side of the exhaust off and for 4 hours tried to get it on. I just could not get everything lined up right. It's a very tight fit and fits like a glove like it should but I couldn't do it by myself. I was using floor jacks so that didn't help any. Well I gave up and left the muffler on but the pipe behind it, I had to take off. I have put all of my exhaust in my trunk and will be visiting my local exhaust installer tomorrow which I should have done in the first place. Anyway, the one muffler is on and the other side still stock. I'm also using the stock h-pipe and manifold. I thought I'd crank her up and see what it sounds like anyway, and OMG how sweet it sounds! I cannot believe the difference and only one muffler! All the videos and all the sound files I heard on the Magnaflow do NOT give you the true sound this makes. I've heard Flowmasters on the same year of car and they definately don't sound as good. To me anyway. The DEEP rumble idling and when you get on it, it sounds even better. They are loud but not obnoxiously loud which is what I wanted. I could go on and on about it. I can NOT wait until I get this professionally installed. Thinking about anything other than Magnaflow??? Think again. You would NOT be disappointed.

catback and midpipe is a piece of cake.

For the best at home install i would use some grey rhino ramps (as i do), jack stands and a jack to lift the back. You could either jack it up from the pumkin (some advise not to, but its been done for years by thousands)

    peice of cake.

I would give it another try.
Why did you pick magnaflows over packs? Just wondering. No pun intended.

    get some sound clips.

Anyway i would get an o/r prochamber to make it sound even better: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/049dd2df-4d60-4fcd-9879-982501698d3b.htm

get a bassani o/r x then let me know what you think. I think is a very good combo because it is very mellow when just cruising around town, but get on it and everyone within a 2 block radius will know its you. I have a before and after midpipe install in my sig, check it out

I just watched your video and that does sound great! I can't wait until I get mine all installed. The chrome tips on the Magnaflow is so much better than the stock tips too.

I wanted something louder with a DEEP note to it without being too loud and the Magnaflows sound just like what I was looking for. They sound better than I thought they would, and I don't even have both on yet. Magnapacks are just too loud for my taste. My next upgrade is coming tomorrow. It's an MGW shifter which I've heard a lot of good things about too. I'll install it after I get the pipes professionally installed.

I had the regular Magnaflows on my car for 2 years. Then I decided I wanted it a little louder. I put the Magnapacks on last week and I am happier than a pig in sh**. You think the Magnaflows sound great, Magnapacks are pure sex. :D They have a great idle and contrary to what u hear, they are only LOUD if you really go over 2000 rpms.

LOL so only if you touch the gas pedal at all they are real loud? :rlaugh:  Magnaflows are awesome, especially with longtubes and o/r x pipe.

I'm surprised you (original poster) are having problems putting the catback on if you actually managed to get one of the stockers off.... basically you just setup the hangers, fit all the pipes together, then tighten it from front to back (midpipe, muffler, tailpipe, tip).

I just had jacks to work with and there wasn't enough clearance for what I needed to do. After you get the first pipe on, then the muffller, it was a major pain trying to get the pipe on the rear of the muffler. The biggest issue was trying to get the pipe on the hanger and then get it on the muffler. Once on the hanger, you don't have hardly any movement at all, left - right - up - or down. Know what I mean? I was going to take it to a muffler shop anyway to get the pipes welded, I should have let them install the whole thing to begin with.

Magnapacks, too loud? never........:D, I actually think its the best sounding exhaust for the stang. Granted a lot on mufflers sound good but as others hear of quoted the packs sound awesome. A big factor in how they sound depends on what midpipe you get. I think the MRT Catted H is a perfect match for the packs and magnaflows. The idle is perfect and the car has a very deep tone. If you don't believe me just listen to my sound clip in my sig below. I had Mac Flowpaths before I had the packs and liked them a lot but the packs just scream get the hell out of my way. The nice thing is I don't have any rasp at all with mine and I can keep them quite when I want (again I have a catted Mid Pipe so it smoothes out the tone). Ether way I think you will be happy with your magnaflows. They are one of the quieter mufflers out there but if you pair them up with O/R prochamber, I think you will have an awesome sounding stang. Post clips when you get them on.

I got the Magnaflows installed today. They sound really nice but now that I have them on, I wonder if it was REALLY worth it. I'm sure a lot of you will say "What?! Are you kidding?!"

I spent $379 total for the Magnaflow Cat-Back and $117 for the installation for a total of $496. I'm VERY glad that I didn't get the Magnapacks now. When I'm going 75 and up there is an annoying drone (it's annoying to me anyway), although it could be worse. It's definately louder than stock on the highway. In town they do sound good but the highway drone is annoying and about the only thing I don't like about upgrading to these. After the installation, there was a strange buzzing noise at 2000 RPM in the tailpipe area. At first I thought it was the pipes themselves hitting something. I later found out that a lug wrench I kept in the trunk net was now vibrating against the body of the car when that didn't happen before. They say there is a 11hp increase after installing them although I definately don't feel any more power. The tips are really cool looking because of the chrome. They are a little bigger than stock too. I guess it will take me some time to get used to. :)

My magnaflow almost never have drone and that is with my x-pipe on. Before i put the x on they had zero drone, give them a bit and see if the break in. Good thing you didn't go with flowmasters then. At 75 my car has a nice rumble, but it is pretty loud. At 55 in 5th gear you can't even hear it.

I had very bad drone with my mac flowpaths before I got the packs. I can cruise all night long at 75mph and listen to music talk to passengers and not go def with the drone. Cruising with over drive on at 40-55mph she just rumbles right along. Remember any aftermarket exhaust is going to be louder and have more of a drone then stock at 2,000 RPM. If you think the drone is bad with your magnaflows get some flowmasters or flowpaths and then you will know what drone is. As said before the magnaflows are on the tamer side of things when it comes to exhaust sound.

Yeah, you're right. I'll get used to it. It's really not THAT bad I guess. I sure like the sound of it in town when I get on it. It sounds pretty bad azz to say the least. And when you aren't on it, it's pretty quiet which is good too. "What's that officer? Disturbing the peace? That COULDN'T have been ME!"
