Audio Tech Question - Pioneer Bluetooth/CD MP3 Car Audio

    I've been looking for the best way to get Bluetooth into my 2005 GT. The Mobile Ease seems okay, but then I read about the new Pioneer DEH-P70BT in dash-CD player (+MP3/WMV/AAC) with Bluetooth built-in. (see attachment from Pioneer Europe website)

    This unit seems destined for release first into the UK market, but is there any reason it wouldn't install into a 2005 GT? Are audio-systems essentially the same worldwide, or are their unique properties to each market's sound systems? (e.g. different power draws, different cabling, etc)

    In other words, can I buy this from the UK and slap it into my US Vehicle?

    They run on different audio frequencies overseas, and that model MAY not tune to North American stations. I say "may" because some high-end models allow you to simply switch. I don't know about this one. May I suggest checking the forums at Carsound.com or SoundIllusions.net (make sure it's .net as .com brings up stuff you DON'T want to see). They tend to go for high quality gear and have some very knowlegeable people.

    BTW, I like that deck, and if it works, post back- I may pull on that one instead of the DEH-P8MP I was looking at.

    Not only do the radios sold in Europe operate on different frequencies, but the wiring harnesses are totally different - they use ISO wiring harnesses. I installed a Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth handsfree car kit (made in France) in my Toyota Tacoma with a Pioneer deck; it was a b---- to figure out. I finally discovered that they make ISO-compatible harnesses for Toyota vehicles sold in Europe; bought one of those and it worked! I don't know of one is sold for Fords, however; and even if they made one it probably wouldn't work in the Mustang. Of course, there's always the option of snipping off whatever connectors come with the radio and direct wiring it to the Mustang's harness - if you can get an accurate wiring schematic of the radio.
