Been hotlapping most weekends and over time I've noticed that the brake dust from hard braking starts to accumulate on the body of the car! What's the best way to get it off? I've tried to wash it but it sort of sticks to the paint. At one point I took a deck brush and tried to clean it off but it can't be very good for the paint to be scrubbing it with a deck brush. Besides, even with a deck brush it still didn't all come off. It gets all over my wheels and even when I try and clean just the wheels with brake cleaner I have to take a metal scraper and scrape off the brake dust that accumulates. I don't think that brake cleaner on the paint would be a very good idea. Any suggestions? John
Clay bar will be your best bet. Please don't scrub it with any type of brush and damn sure don't use any brake cleaner on your paint.
Simple green might take it off...or gunk engine degreaser. When you get it off, wax the hell out of the area it accumulated and that will prevent this from sticking again
the sticky stuff is probably tire wetter of some sort and it's getting brake dust in it too. do the claybar, and then wax it really well.
