I have a 2005 v6 manual 4.0l stang. Sometimes I notice when braking at fast speeds like 40mph+ that there is a mid-high pitch vibration throught the car, and i can feel it on my foot on the brake. It doesnt always do this, and I don't think my brakes are shot cuz i often use the gears to slow myself down and just break to ome to a full stop or lightly use them in combination with downshifting. There are 13,500 miles on the car now and its been doing this since my dad gave me the car at 11,000 miles. The car doesnt rattle, shake, niether does the steering wheel while braking.
Hey ncth282, You could have a problem with the brake disc. i know you said you dont think its the brakes but im guessing thats what it is? have you checked them? tiff
Brakes and Rotors are something that aren't under warranty for too long. I'd definitely try the dealer first though. Even if they don't fix it, they might help with the diagnosis. I had something similar on my Accord, pulsing when breaking from 50-60. Changing the rotors helped. It didn't go away until I changed the breaks also.
I think the brakes are only under warrenty for 12k, but you can always take it in and see what they tell you.
as the above post stated brake are only covered for 12k miles for wear. BUT sometime they will cut them for you under warrenty for a pulsation liek you have
u have a brake pulsation. the way to fix this is to have your rotors cut with a brake lathe. also use your brakes to slow your car down not your engine and transmission. brakes are cheaper then clutches are.
From the original post it didn't sound like he was talking about breaking hard at high speeds. But if that was the case it definitely could be the ABS.
