    Whats wrong with the C&L? They have always seemed to be one of the best intakes for the Ford products in the past...why not with the 05s?

    Let's keep this in perspective. There have been very few people with issues related to the JLT. Most of these issues can be related to how the intake was installed. When something is "flawed" the condition is repeatable by the majority of the products. Jay is working on perfecting the product so that the issues reported by the few are less inclined to happen, but these are not flaws. I am an example of one owner who has put it through it's paces (temp, speeds, rough roads, long duration drives, etc..) and have experienced zero problems.

    When it comes to someones livelihood I just want to make sure we are factual and clear :nice:

    I'm very factual and clear. The issues on this forum may be less, but the one's on bradbarnett.net were probably more. The maf coming loose, the filter falling off, and the tube melting due to heat are major issues. Jay is working on fixing them, and I give him credit for his service. The maf coming loose has already been fixed. But, I am going to tell the truth about the product as everyone should. I wouldn't want anyone with holding info if I was researching products.

    so i am proto typing the AFE CAI for the v6 no tune needed. i also have the xcal 2 with a custom tune from socal tuning. a friend of mine has the v8 version no tune. the way they made the tube allowes the additional air to pass at a lower velocity without triping the MAF and the filter is twice as large as the other units. i have removed the tune during the test phase but we tested it with the tune and it was impressive. after i removed the tune and added the CAI i stopped by socal and he redynoed it. he couldnt believe it but if anything it was on the rich side and after the test is over he wants to tweek the tune with some more timing in it!

    I am also very involved over on TMS as well (go by 2MFF over there). The MAF coming loose was fixed very early on. The filter falling off is due to people not knowing how to install a hose clamp. I believe Jay said less than 10 reported this probem. Too tight on the clamp and the filter is gonna "squeeze" its way off. There have only been 2 reports of melting and one of those was a complete fraud.

    I'm all for telling the truth, but the way you make it sound ALL JLTs have these problems.

    I've had my filter installed by ASE certified Ford Techs, my tuner, and myself. It still falls off. Jay has taken care of my issues, but I am informing people of the problems with this system.

    Guess alot of us are better than ASE certified Ford Techs then.... over 300 miles and not one issue, fall off, deformity, or any problem what so ever yet. the only problem is keeping my butt on the seat!

    I guess if you think that. I had mine on for a few 1000miles and then when the heat started to kick in it started to fall off. But hey must be the install for the 1000miles that was wrong....

    I just installed and dyno tested the new K&N FIPK kit. On my bone stock 2005 GT, 5 speed, it picked up 10whp and it does not require a retune. After testing the FIPK kit, I flashed the basic SCT 93 octane tune in the car and it picked up an additional 25whp. So, with the K&N FIPK and the SCT tune, I picked up 35whp. I think that is right in line with everyone elses air intake/tune packages. And to really freak you out, this was done with the Hydrocarbon trap installed. Aparently the FIPK needs this to work properly with the factory tune. I think when I pull it out and tune for it, there are a couple more HP to be had. I was very impressed with the quality and engineering that they put into this kit, I would definately recommend it to anyone.
