i replace the alt the idler and tensiner pulleys and the water pump has maybey 5000
miles onit this noise could be the rear bearing on the pump but it was a new pump from oreillys but that is the area of the squeak its a 96 3.8 automatic with 124,000

I had this problem but my car also was skipping something fierce. I replaced the entire camshaft angle sensor and it fixed everything. The terrible screeching sound is he bearing in the actual sensor itself. Pull it out making sure that you mark the position of the sensor. If there is any play in the shaft the bearing is bad.

I got mine from Napa and it was around $100 with the sensor included. My noise would come and go also. Sometimes it would skip and screech and others it would do nothing other than a high RPM skip
