Pal. those things will chase u down at the end so fast it wont even be funny. U will get him in the 60ft but right after that he is going to pull on u like nothing else u need more gear for that short track also r u a 5spd or an auto. that will also make a big df's. u will run i am guessing around 9.4 or something like that if u have not been to a track before u will prob. see high 9's but good luck u r going to need it. Its all going to depend on how u can drive.

they do that so that they can have a properly geared trans.

always think of transmissions as the split from first to direct drive(4th in this case), in the case of the f-bomb t56 you go from 2.66 down to 1:1 this is known as close ratio. in the case of the t5 you go from 3.35 to 1:1 this is known as wide ratio.

if you do not have a broad torque curve(like the 5.0) the wide ratio can be very detrimental to acceleration. sure the steep gear may get you going better, but once going the wide split can move you out of your power range, where as the closer ratio keeps you in your curve much better.

now the kicker is the f-bomb has a .50 6th gear which means they can run a much steeper final drive while not killing cruise rpm--this totally negates any advantage by the wider ratio gear box.

long story short, gm geared the f-bomb much better than ford has geared any mustang and that has a large impact on head to head racing.

I understand that completly. Thats another reason that these cars pull so good through second third and forth gears. I still think that part (the other reason being better gear splits) of the reasoning for that is the 7.75 ring gear ten bolt rear end which is well known for being a time bomb. I had a friend that chipped teeth off the ring gear two different times in his Z28. One of those times the car was completly stock. The biggest thing I was trying to state earlier is that the lower first gear ratio is the reason that 5.0's seem to launch so much harder than most stock LS1's.

He's rolling a 95 cobra, so that should answer the 5 sp. or auto question. Although I do agree with them running you down quickly, your fighting chance is going to be how well you can launch and drive.

Or you can use my car while i'm there..... :D J/K

didn't see u out there whitecobra, but i beat him the first run after that he started learning to drive, kinda dissapointed, but my best run was 9.3 or 9.2 , the camaro ran a 9.1 and would have had an 8sec if hed stop missing his 3rd gear heh. there was a gt there with a t56 that ran the same time as me but my mph was higher. i think i just need to work on my launching, i think i had a 2.2 60ft time with 21psi in the tires, i freakin took out my front and rear passenger seats too,lol

Just practice your launches. My best runs were done leaving just above idle slipping the clutch as I eased into the throttle. I was able to get a 1.98 60ft like that. Start letting out on the clutch when that third yellow light come on and that will improve your reaction times. The guy with the camaro isn't that great of a driver so with some practice you'll get him as long as he runs times very close to those. My car ran a 9.07 at 77.8 and by looking at your times your car will run nearly identicle when you get the launch down. Not bad for your first time running down the track.

think so, i know i have one of the best stickiest street tire compounds.. i think i should be able to do better. yea my mph was 78, all my reaction times i think sucked heh im to worried about red ligthing, plus at that stupid track once u let of the brake the car rolls forward slowly, i was worried about red lighting it. how low of a psi generally do people go on street tires?

i think i was slipping/dumping the clutch somewhere around 2500rpm, not exactly sure as i would just let the car launch and not go to wot until traction was there, i know it didn't really bog it tho. their was an auto 91 fox body there with 3.73s and bolt ons beating me with some crappy tires....so yea i guessing the launch is whats holding me back

Yeah the launch is the only thing holding you back. Our cars are nrearly identicle heck mine is even rio red. My first couple passes I made was in the 20's and high teens. I'm on mismatched rear tires too cause I had a blow out and didn't want to buy new tires because I'm about to buy some DD wheels and didn't want to buy tires twice. It'll just take some practice.

you car is capable of 8.90s just as it sits. i personally think you could hang with the z28 all day in the eighth. im sure in the quarter he will eat u up on the second end of the track. good video.
