yes i feel very stupid for asking this but im having trouble with this cold air kit my buddy bought for his 03 v6... there are some odd amounts of nuts adn bolts that seem not to fit inthe back of the air sensor. there are only two holes on the back of the air sensor(they line up along with the gasget on the pipeing) but the new piping has four holes. it looks like are spots on the plastic part of the air sensor that need to the drilled for these bolts. its a cheapass kit from china with no directions... o and im not sure if i have the silicone hoses 100% correct but the one taht goes to the BACK of the air sensor housing is way smaller than the lip it need to fit on! another delimma is wtf is that black rubber thin in the first pipe off the manifold? it has a hole in it and its after teh air sensor, so leaving it open would definitly be bad. and the hardline extending from the intake piping closest to the manifold is to short for that vac line leading from the valve cover by about and inch. please help! o and waht is that mother of a metal clamp for? http://www.cardomain.com/member_pag...mages/11/web/347000-347999/347834_26_full.jpg can u tell me wtf those little metal things are for on teh bottom right ? i jsut realized when i took the pic i have the metal shield backwards
go over to macperformance.com, choose the kit for the car and look at there how to page. it will show you the entire kit, everything that you'll need. just compare to the one you got. sounds like you should have on American(Mac or BBK)....and it's CAI not CIA
The two metal pegs are for the bottom of the fender shield, they should fit in two grooves were the original air box sat. The big ass metal clamp looks like extra!
that rubber plug in the upper part is not used on your model year. the sensor that plugs in there is in the 00 prior mustangs, 01+ it is built into the MAF. You could get yourself a breather filter to plug the hole up with (yes i know, ricey), or you could do what I did and just pull the plug out and put a piece of duct tape over it, lol. (on the outside). You will have no use for that big ass clamp. I didn't, at least. you have some options on the MAF. since yours is plastic, you can easily take a drill bit and drill the hole out, or you can just use the two bolts (if that looks like it will hold it sufficcently.) Just make sure the hump is facing the same direction on the MAF and your pipe. I've added a few pictures to help you. f*** it!!!!!! go to http://www.geocities.com/dogbert0051 and look at the pics 1.jpg thru 4.jpg and you'lll see the pics. geocities is being a dirty, dirty wh0re
Is there a vac line plug drilled on the underside of the upper pipe? Mine has one underneath it and it fits perfectly so you can't see the vac line coming from the engine into the pipe. I also got a plastic plug for the extra drilled hole. I put some silicon sealant glue when I put it on so its sealed nice and tight. The two pegs will go into the two grommets that are left when you take the stock air box out. You will see two holes when you lift it out, and there should be two rubber pieces sitting in them (they come out really easily). The pegs push into them so you have a foothold to screw the bottom piece of the fender plate into. The extra metal clamp looks like some form of a spacer, but with no way of attaching it to anything. Check my cardomain page, I've got a pic of what it should look like afterward. Gimme a bit to find my camera and I'll try to take more closeup pics for you.
