Hey all, i appologize if this is just a dumb question, but i'm just a 17 year old driving their first manual car. I bought the car ('99 gt convertible 35th anniversary edition) with about 40k miles on it, and it's now up to about 44k. Anyways, i was just wondering what the signs of a wearing clutch are. When i started her up today, the clutch was sounding a bit spongy when i was letting off of it. A friend of mine said it might jsut be because it was cold. The clutch is still grabbing well, but should i start looking into putting a new one in? Thanks for the help.

Weird, it should feel spongy when the clutch is hot. At least that's how it is in my '04. There are couple of ways to see if your clutch is slipping. One of them is to dump the clutch in 5th gear at a standstill. If the car rolls forward before stalling, then you know the clutch is worn.
