Anyone ever do this. I saw some colorant on JC Whitney.com for 25 bucks for a 32 oz. can. Says it can be used to change the color of your top. Right now mine is white but it has some cracks in it in the back. I want to get a new one that is black but I don't have the money right now to pay someone for all of that labor. I figure if this stuff works I can have a black top that is so-so until I can afford a new one. The top doesn't leak, it just looks like crap. So, anyone use anything like this. Does it work and will one can be enough?

    thanks

Vinyl Dye should do exactly what you're asking for, but it'll take quite a bit of it. Also, you'd want to remove the top from the car to prevent ANY possiblity of getting the stuff on the car. You can buy it all day long at Wal-Mart or any parts shop.

I just use Castrol Super Clean ($2.99) at o'riley's, a brush, and dilute it in water. Spray it off real good, let it dry and then apply 303 protectant with a applicator pad. Looks brand new and my cars a 93 gt black top.
