Wondering if anybody knew of a way to override the "safety" on a 02 Mustang Convertible, so I do not have to put the parking brake on to use the top button. I know that you should be stopped to use the top, but I don't like screwing with the brake (rolling is almost stopped, isn't it?) :D Any suggestions?

damn Ron, don't you ever have anything worth a damn to add to the forums???

mreric......there should be a "relay" set up where it gets 12 V setup when the parking brake is lifted. I'm sure that if you keep that constant hot (by tapping into the cig. lighter in the console) or by keeping it on when the key is on, you'd be okay, but it would just require getting your voltage tester out to see which socket lights up with the e-brake on

Thanks for the input 98CobraClone .

Ron, why do you even bother? :bang: the point of replying i don't know is pretty stupid. everyone assumed that YOU didn't know without announcing it. Oh, and by the way, I hope you got the scratch on the bottom side of your door fixed, or whatever other drama is going on taken care of for today.

Just lift the brake lever to the first click. At that point you're still just taking up cable slack so the parking brake isnt really engaged, but the light is on, so the safety circuit is energized.

yaeh, what he said. I use to pull my park break up to the first click so i could do it at a stop light or in parking lots. finally i just left it one click up cause it was an automatic. then if someone else drives it just put the brake down so they dont try to do it while driving.
