the crankshaft ? is: the only reason i would need to buy a new crankshaft is if the machine shop could not get it to turn, correct. i dont want to buy a crankshaft if i dont have to. i would just buy another motor. am re-building another 2.3. needs rod and main bearings, oil pump etc. my 2nd ? is on gears. i recieved 3:45 gears w/ posi. on do i need to take off the plate with the teeth i assume for a late model speedometer. its on the back side of the gears held with 10 bolts. thanks in advance for any input.

attn. prohawk,tp sensor was the culprit on the 87. did not run a code check after driving it,just did the koeo test and the test with the car running. drove it for a week and it threw up a tps code, changed it out, so far no problems

1rst Question; Yes, or if it was cracked/fractured

2nd Q; The toothed sprocket sandwiched between ring-gear and housing is for ABS, leave it on as these gears are machined to accept it.
Does not matter if you use ABS or not
