hey guys, i'm looking for the brushed aluminum dash inserts for the II. i'm changing the color of my interior and i want to put the brushed panels on the instrument cluster part of the dash like the older trans am cars. anbody know where i might be able to find them for the II?:nice:

There's a guy on one of the .NET forums working on fabricating some.

Also, check with the MII parts vendors as they might have some.

The factory "brushed aluminum" dashes are just some kind of film. The ones on my '78 CBII are worn through the finish. These aftermarket guys are making them from real aluminum, so they can be a bit more pricey.
 
My '78 Ghia Sport has the black "engine-turned" dash insert, and it is an aluminum sheet glued to a steel sheet which in turn mounts to the plastic dash with push through and bend over steel tabs. Pretty durned complicated!

I've assumed that it was done this way because it was such a low production item, and wondered if the original Motor Town produced CB II's weren't done the same way.
