So here's my problem, I was driving home the other day and my differential went out on me. I obviously need a new one, anyone know of a place that sells them for a decent price? I am kinda strapped for cash, but any help would be greatly appreciated, it is for my 96 Cobra. Thanks!

I'd go to a junkyard, find a Ranger with an 8.8" in it, yank it out, have the clutches rebuilt and put it in your car...

    That's probably the cheapest way...

What "went out" exactly? It could be the end bearings or carrier? Which would be easier to fix than replacing the entire rear end.
If you do need a new rear end, then any one from a 94-98 will work.

Well come to find out, my entire rear end needed to be replaced. Once the casing was removed, only bits and pieces of my gears were left, the axles needed to be replaced, bearings, pretty much the works. I really didnt have the time to work on it so i took it in, and 1300 dollars later, my car is back, and now i get to break in the gears all over again. But thanks for the help guys.

Was it a bad gear install the first time that cause the damage?
