I bought the car about 2 months ago and had car dynoed couple weeks ago, 2002 Mustang GT 5spd, and it was dynoed on a Dyno Dynamics load bearing dyno and put down 246 rwhp. i know its going to be roughly 40 rwhp less than a dyno jet reads (or so i been told) but i was juss looking for peoples input about there dyno results with about the same mods to see if my numbers are accurate with other peoples dyno runs. basically trying to tell if any internal work has been done or not.

Accufab 75mm TB, C&L Plenum, MAC CAI Fenderwell Kit, Hooker LT's, X-Pipe, MAC Mufflers, Diablo Predator Programmer, 4:10.

Actually that 246 sounds about right to me, but thats me. But if you are saying that on a DynoJet it would say 286, I believe you are mistaken.

Sounds a bit low for the mods you have. Its pretty close to what it should be though. There is no way the car is making 286 rwhp. I would say 250 rwhp would be about right give or take 5 rwhp.

well this is off my dyno (just CDC Shaker, K&N, Pulleys, Prochamber (catted), and flow masters)

the only signifigant difference we have is the headers I believe... that dynos not as restrictive as you think... or at least I dont think so... these 4.6's dont respond as well to bolt ons as the 5.0s did, Cams and other high end N/A work are the big gains from what I've researched, and these 4.6's seem to love boost. Good Luck though.

*edit* oops I guess you have the programmer too, but I dont think it makes a big a difference as some say. I'd put you at 255 or so as a good guess... if the link above isnt working check page 5 of my cardomain link

I suppose that I could always hit up a similar dyno to what you ran on and post the actual difference, OR you could hit up a dynojet and post the diff, cause I'm gonna be using the same dyno for each mod I put on now and log em.

well i believe im going to try out a Dyno Jet then ill post the diffrence in rwhp between the two dynos. b/c the guy at the dyno shop with the load bearing said it was approx. 17% less than what a dynojet reads and ive had others say do a formula with .82 or something and then ive had others say theres approx. a 40hp diffrence.....either way if you do any of these formulas i still comes out to be between 282-287. so i know with people who work with the dynos all cant be wrong. and then people wanna tell me theres no way for me to make that power (282-287) on a dynojet with my mods. then. the ive had others say i should be makeing more. so i guess theres only one way to find out and thats to try a dynojet.

This weekend I put down 283.6 / 329.6 on a dyno jet with:

    K&N FIPK2
    Accufab / 70mm
    Mustangtuning 1/2'' intake spacer
    Steeda UDP
    UPR O/R X
    Magnapacks
Diablo Predator (Little more timing and fuel).

My last dyno 6 months ago it was 264 / 302 before the Accufab and Predator. There is another local GT with similar mods minus a few who put down ~240 the same day.

I do think I gained a ton with my X Pipe though, but was REALLY suprised with the difference between the two dynos after adding the Diablo and the Accufab.

I'm not saying you wont put 280+ on the rollers, I just highly doubt it. I'd love to see what you put down on a dyno jet though. the same mod can/will affect 2 similar 4.6s totally differently for some reason, some people got fast cars some normal, and some poor bastards slow cars. I'd really like to see what you put down... I searched my area and the majority of shops in driving distance are dynojet so I cant really test out your loss theory :(

I think dynos are kind of pointless on near stock cars.

Now that I have said that, I also think that some gains on dynos shown from certain mods that affect exhaust and intake are only temporary. Many of these mods work by causing the a/f to lean up a bit...that's where the hp gains come from.

I would bet that you will find that dyno results that seem high might just be the result of intake and exhaust mods that were just added. Once the car has been driven for a while, I suspect that the ECU corrects the lean condition and some of these gains are given back.

I can't prove this as it is only a theory.

How on earth are you puting down that kind of tq? Was this a 4th gear pull?

um. I'd go back and demand they do the dyno correctly because that is absurd. That RWHP is equivalent to the RWHP of a cammed, full bolt on GT. That is wrong. And 240 for those mods is probably a little low but that's much closer than 280+.

EDIT: Is that SAE? Maybe it's not corrected... then again, the other GT shouldn't have been so low then. Post up the dyno sheet?

Yea there is no way that car is making that much hp. Some cars with cams dont make that much...Im not saying that its your fault, but Id go back to the operater and tell him somethings up.

full intake and exhaust, I'd put you at 265-270rwhp. just my guess

That sounds pretty good. They don't have pulleys but that range is probably right :)

Yea, I was pretty surprised, awe struck actually. Damnit, I'll be pretty upset if their dyno is jacked up. Yes it was a 4th gear pull.

It's a new dyno (Dynojet above ground) in town. I'm getting the disc sent to me via snail mail so I can load it on my computer, that should be here today or tomorrow hopefully.

They were out of discs that day (Saturday) and I don't have a scanner for the sheet at the moment.

Although my car has always seemed to put out higher numbers then other GTs at the dyno (same dyno, same day). I don't know what the deal is. I bought this car with 24k on it, perhaps there is work done to it I don't know about? Seriously. Realistically probably not but I've always wondered.

    Edit:

Ok, so I wrangled up a camera and took a shot. I guess it's not corrected but I'll see what it says when I get it on disc and convert it to SAE using the dynojet desktop program:

I feel that if I could go back and dump the cash on top of each mod I would have waited two weeks between each mod and dynod the gains. Its not worthless to dyno a stock or near stock car, personally I feel its good to have a baseline to see where youve come from. Also another good reason would be to debunk people saying certain mods dont do jack. I agree that the computer needs to relearn everything after each bolt on, but 1-2 weeks is more than enough time. The car should know whats going on at the end of one gas tank.

Now I heard if you limit your mods on a 4.6 that your GT will respond better not for sure. I did a lot of dyno runs on my 03 testing the Diablo to get the best results and pulled 255rwhp 284rwtq. My a/f ratio is high between 2-4k due to the MAF in which I am going back to stock. A lot of people do not know where to set your timing or a/f with a Diablo on a late model GT. I even made a ton of calls to Diablo's manufacturer themselves and didn't get much information. If you can ask the shop if he is interested on finding the best results possible that way you can go out and try to find him customers saying he knows which settings can best suite your needs. Just a thought?

Just wanted to add I totally agree with your statement. With a programmer exspecially on a GT it takes time to pull the right results. And of course every GT is different.

Maybe you guys can help me. I have an 02 five speed with a BBK fender well intake, custom X-pipe(no cats) into Melo tone muffs and a Diablo Predator. Can someone give me a ballbark HP rating?
