I have an '88 bronco II that I am transplanting a fuel injected 5.0 into. The truck was originally outfitted with a fuel injected 2.9 and an automatic transmission. I am dropping in a mildly modified 5.0, backed by an AOD and tuned with a twEECer RT. My question is regarding the original processor from the truck- since it is an EECIV from an auto vehicle, can I flash it with the binary from an AOD-shifted fox?
I REALY doubt it since the family of processor is diff. The loading of diff. programs onto a eec is only if the eec is of the same family. ex.- 94gt 5spd (t4M0) can be loaded with a 95 cobra R (zao or something?), 94-95 cobra (j4j1) or one of the 94-95 auto programs. Your best bet will be to get a fox eec since the aod is not a aode that the eec controles in the 94-95's.
That's pretty much what I figured. The T4MO in my '95GT will stay there, and I will re-burn the chip for the new engine. I'll try to source a fox aod computer for the 5.0 in the truck then.
The '88 computer is speed density most likely and would not work. If you are using an AOD, rather than an AODE, then you can use your current processor with no problems with an AOD.
