Emissions Q': Is This Even Possible?

  • Sponsors (?)

100% acetone is supposed to reduce emissions considerably. Use 3 oz. per 10 gallons of gas. I used it in my Subaru to get better gas mileage, but it was a pain to add it to every tank so I stopped.

Acetone and rubbing alcohol are not the same. A friend told me the same thing, he added a coupe of 16 oz bottles of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to his tank and his no emissions equipped (except cats) blown cars have all passed with flying colors. Just do the usual tune up stuff - oil change, air filter, check the plugs, cap, rotor, set the timing, and maybe add some just to be sure.

Find out what you will be tested for.

I have read that Acetone can reduce Unburned HC's, but can actually increase NOx.

If you are not tested for NOx, then who cares?
