Any body know of a reliable source where i can get engine specs for a '73 302. Just to have the info for future mods, that I am currently saving up for. Specifically, I need the specs on the cam. Thanks in advance
according to my melling book, .368/.380 lift with a 1.6 rocker, with 184/189 duration@.050. This is of course a stock cam. Quite the wimp!
nope, at least it's a dual pattern....it also the same one they used in early 289's-non hi-po of course
So i would assume that their would be a noticable difference by upgrading to a crane energizer cam kit. Which of these do you recommend? It says they are all suitable for a daily driver. The mod may go along with an intake swap and carb uprgrade. or just the simple carb upgrade to holley 500cfm 2bbl. from the a jegs catalog adv duration gross lift 1. 260 degrees 456'' 2. 266 degrees 469'' 3. 272 degrees 84''
Any of the Energizer cams will be streetable. And as for the stock cam specs, I was going to say the lift was : not much and the duration was not very long
Those are what they call "gross" or "total" duration, try to get and use duration figures measured at 0.050 list. They tend to be more realistic. To your question...all three of those cams are HIGHLY streetable(assuming that last number is ".484" right?). They'll have a very smooth idle at low RPM as well as tons of vacuum for power brakes and airconditioning. the 270-280 area is where you'll begin to notice a rougher idle, but the one you listed has a low enough lift to not put it into that catogory. All of these cams will be a BIG difference in power over stock.
Summit racing -- SUMK3600 ...I think it's like 82 bucks with the lifters. 204/214 ( edelbrock performer) I picked up probably 20 hp/ftpnds when I had my 289.

It's a Summit cam... * Advertised duration: 262 intake/272 exhaust * Duration at .050 in. cam lift: .204 intake/.214 exhaust * Gross valve lift: .484 in. intake/.510 in. exhaust * Lobe separation: 112 degrees * RPM range: 1,500 to 4,000 It seems a bit small though so I'll probally go bigger. I want a noticable idle and max power, only problem is I have the stock stall converter. Jim
