I got to run my 1997 gt at the track last night again. I have ford racing shorties, o/r hpipe, welded in flows, 3.55s, triax, and a vortech blower pushing 7psi. I have never taken the vavle covers off even. I dont know what my next mod is gonna be though, I am thinking cams. It ran consistant 13.2s in colder weather, but for some reason she ran GREAT tonight. I went 13.17 at 108 on steet tires and I put on my slicks for some better times. I did a 4000rpm dump after a 2nd gear tire heat up which netted me a 1.77 60ft. I have no suspension mods and my sway bar is still on. I ended up running a 12.77 at 107! I was happy and I hot lapped it right back in and went the same exact time. I cant wait to start working on her though!
awesome times man. i also have a 248a and really love them. Hardly see them on the road. I want to do cams as well. Also, a new intake when they are available. It seems like most of the power difference between 96-98's and 99-04 is in the cams and intake. I honestly dont think the heads are really the problem. If i was gonna do a headswap i'd wait till something better is on the market or just port the ones i have put in aftermarket cams and an frpp intake or figure out how to get the bullit to fit. I once read an article about pi's not really flowwing much more than npi's but the guy claimed it was the "design" that made all the power. Bull....i have a 248a with pullies flows and a chip and it makes 201 at the wheels which is about 235 at the crank. i am sure an intake and cams could give me around 25hp at the crank. Which means that pi heads aint worth all that much. Could be wrong though.
I wanna stick with my NPIs till I get my motor built and it will blow this car away. I am happy with what little I have done to be in the 12s already. I cant wait to put some more into her now.
i wanna see what a PI intake would do for you. it's a cheap little mod ($125) & is supposed to make a pretty big difference in the npi cars. come on try it, ya know you wanna
