After 5 years of looking and several botched Ebay deals / scams, I finally found a solid car for a fair price. I finally gave up trying to find something close, and found this listed on the corral in Ft. Lauderdale.

The car runs and drives like a dream, and everything (everything!) works on it. I almost feel bad putting in a 5.0 / T-5. This is a far cry from my '95, whose constant electrical problems, countless squeaks and rattles, other problems. won't be mentioned. ;)

The car wasn't a GT after all, as I figured. It looks the part, but the core support tells the story. It needs a few things here and there, mostly interior work. The body is in excellent overall shape. There are a couple spots that might need attention in the future, but I've found zero body filler on it. All in all, I think $7k for a well optioned A-code is a pretty sweet deal. I'll never figure out the A-code / 3-speed combination, but c'est la vie.

Here are some pics, let me know what you guys think.

Looks good! I really like it. Even a great color. I would change the wheels out to some classic style Torq Thrusts. Then get a 5 speed in there.

I would love to have one just like for a daily driver. What's the underside look like? found any rust?

Great job...Congrats!:nice:

since you're swapping out the engine/trans for a 5.0/T5, let me know if you wanna sell any of the original I'm going to need parts and I'm trying to keep as much of it as possible OE Ford 289, So either email me or PM me when you get around to it. It looks great! Have Fun!

Sorry for the long hiatus, just been wrapped up in other things.

The underside looks great for the most part. There was some some surface rust (no holes, but a bit of pitting) on the floor pan near the driver's side which I've already taken care of. There's a small section in the trunk on the driver's side dropoff that has some pinholes due to water leaking near the back windshield. I sanded / primed it and will eventually have some new metal welded in...but for now it's not getting any worse. Other than that, there is a spot on the front corner of both doors that will need to be patched when I repaint it, which is what I'm a bit nervous about. I don't want to reskin the doors, as I've heard nightmare stories about that. Hopefully I can find somebody qualified to take care of it around here.

The interior is going to be replaced when I put the new motor in. Aside from the soft parts, most of it is in a good driver or better condition.

As for the wheels, those will come after the motor swap. I'm leaning toward some older torq thrust wheels as mentioned. I'd absolutely love to somehow fit the 17 x 9 2003 cobra wheels from my '95 on it, but I think that's a bit too ambitious.

5.0 StangRacer: I'll probably be selling the engine / transmission as a package deal when I do perform the swap. I'm not exactly sure what year the motor is yet, as I haven't even pulled the value covers off yet. The tag is dated '65, yet the intake and dipstick are dated '66.

Thanks for the thoughts guys!
