Have any of you guys seen this? Ford Racing 4.6L 3-Valve Fox Body Swap - Part 1 - LRS Blog - Read Here Shop Here Pretty interesting. I'm sure more and more 3V's will become available. 300HP to start, and fully dressed weight of 420 pounds is pretty enticing. (540lbs for the 5.0)
We'll see what it'll run this weekend. He had it tuned the other day & it put down 327hp/314tq! 4.6 3V FOX ON THE DYNO - LRS Blog - Read Here Shop Here
Very interesting swap. Personally, I would have like to have seen a more stock fuel setup. All the effort put forth to make the install look factory and they go and setup that HUGE regulator on the firewall. If I ever get around to doing my T-Top Terminator, you can bet that every square inch of it will look 100% factory. Like it was purchased from Ford that way. Interesting about the control pack too....They need to make something like that specifically for the 4-valve cobra motor...that would make life easy for my dream swap. hehe.
That control pack is interesting. I kinda wish something like that existed for the 4V as well, but I'm sure 3V's will be plentiful soon at the boneyards. I'm sure they could make some good power too modded in a Fox.
Hey Jonathan, do you have any info you could share on that control pack? I'm curious if it would accept the same tunes the regular 3V OBD-II ECU would? If so, I'm sure it could be adapted to the 4V like Mike was saying. I'm looking at possibly doing a 4V swap on my 95, so this could be very interesting.
I know that any SCT Custom Tuning Dealer can tune the FRPP control pack, & I'm sure Diablo can as well. on the control pack fuel system, The FRPP control Pack is set up from FRPP to be used with a return style system & thats the reason for the regulator. It was the easiest, most cost effective way to plumb a return style fuel system. Does it look the best, well it depends what turns your crank, but it definately works! form<funtion I wish something like this control pack was around when I did the 4V swap in my 93, but such is life I guess.
Great read! That exhaust note is nice. So if any SCT dealer can tune the control pack, a KB should be plug and play. Only changes should be fuel system upgrades, pulleys & accessories, and tune.
Couple more questions. 1) Compression ratio? 2) Did you have P/S on the Fairmont? How easy would it be to adapt the included pump to a fox rack? 3) What about adding A/C to the serp setup? Would an 05-09 bracket and compressor bolt up?
Compression is stock issue, somewhere around 9.5:1 I think. He used manual steering, but I'm sume the provided pump could be made to work with your existing rack. Probably just have to fab a couple of hoses. 96-09 4.6 A/C compressor will bolt up to the block.
Do you have the SSP with the 99/01 4V in it? If so then thanks again for all the help. I love LMR and go to your showroom any time I can. You sold me my hood and a couple grand in other stuff way back when you guys first got that 95R in the show room.
