Its kinda sad actually - they are looking at a 9 billion dollar loss this year with the restructioning costs figured in... its sad, hopefully they can pull thru

Most likey they will end up merging with another company, like daimler-chrysler. Hell even GM has been talking with Nissan about a merge.

Building poor quality vehicles for years that nobody wants to buy + UAW = no profit for Ford
They have no one to blame but themselves, just like GM.

I don't know if it's been made public yet but my dad is a union worker at a Ford assembly plant, and he just told me yesterday that they had a big meeting informing the emplyees that Ford is bringing in a new CEO and Bill Ford is kind of stepping aside.

They are bringing in the some former big shot (I think he was the CEO) from Boeing that restructured Boeing and brought them out of the same problems that Ford currently has. They are giving him a $16 million dollar signing bonus and paying him $16 million for the first year!! No wonder they're frickin out of money!

Just more proof that there won't be ANY US based manufacturing companies left in 20 years.
The US will soon be :owned: by China, India, Japan, etc.

    :flag: for now...

I saw one today. An '07 GT500. I was driving. Yeah, not good, almost went off into a ditch. I was bowing to it thru my window mouthing "I'm not worthy". The guy smiled. Was probably thinking I was NUTS. I am but thats beside the point.

No, Toyota just opened up a huge plant in KY, and many "japaneese" car companies are doing the manufacturing here.

I work at a GM dealer. It's actually the biggest GMC dealer in the wold. I'll say GM's only hope is thier trucks. The G6, what a POS. The sport coupe is basically a cellica, and the rest of them just have no appeal. The G5, is basically a Cobalt. I don't know about the Solctice, it's kind of like a Miata that got impregnated by a Corvette, but the Vette won't claim it making it a bastard child. The new 07 youkons, I think it's just too much cheap plastic for a $40-80K vehicle. Thier p/u's keep them strong though.

    GM owns 49% of Toyota.

I'll look for an actuall source, but that is what I am told at the dealership. They are allies though. The Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix are the main examples but they do share some parts.

screw GM, their whole new line sux. they have been steadily going downhilll for the last 7 years. Ford is in the same boat. they revamped their truck line and launched the new mustang hoping to breathe new life into the company and so far it hasnt been enough. DCX is leaning heavily on their cash cow the minivan and milking NAFTA for all it's worth by building their trucks in mexico for fractions of what it costs here. take the hemi for example. it costs DCX 2000 to build a hemi engine, yet it is a 4000 dollar option on a truck. it's all about profitability and internal structuring
