Yes, only I could start a Frozen door lock Tread in the middle of summer... My drivers side lock is siezed up, and i have no idea how to fix it, Last time this happened it was the actuator, and i could still unlock it with the key, but this time i cant even do that. So, has anyone ever taken the door panel off with the door closed? Is it possible? Something in the door is jammed up somewhere and its gonna get really old really quick if i have to keep getting into the passenger side. Ideas Welcomed Dr.
It is not easy, but yes the door panel can be removed with the door shut. It's kinda hard on the panel due to where the plastic clips attach to the panel though. Just unscrew all the screws and bolts first then try to pop the panel with an upholstery tool. Not easy, but I did it on the passenger side door one time. Sometimes the actuator gets so screwed up it freezes and even the key won't turn the lock. I'm sure you can do it.
was your door sagging? my pass door was sagging badly when I bought my car and it would not let my door close properly. when I slammed it shut it would not open again. just a theory.
damn im glad mine froze with the doors unlocked. Its gonna be a PITA to get all of the clips off without screwing them or the door panel up
i got the door panel off, and it was the actuator.. I used some leverage and broke it out of the door, and then it was fine. I rip up several of the black plastic clips, but the door panel is undamaged. The annoying thing is this door lock acutator is only about 3 years old. Dr.
