Fuel cap/service engine soon lights

    Both of these are on in my car, and I do not know why. they are solid though, not flashing. Could eityher of them possibly mean transmission problems? just curious.

    well i know that the service engine light can come on if ur fuel cap isnt closed or u have water in ur tank.. try tightening ur fuel cap

    if you have a check fuel cap light on that means you have a evap leak code in the system.. first thing is check to see if the cap is on, then check the filler neck contact surface and see if there are any cracks.

    I've done both with no luck. However, my friend pulled a 3500rpm neutral drop in my automatic car the other day. Could this be a reason at all? BTW, he's banned from driving it forever.
