alright guys, heres the deal. im getting about 50 miles to a half tank. i dont know what the deal is. even if you drove this thing hard for every second of those 50 miles, i dont know if yo could get down to that low of mpg.
heres where you guys come in. What should i check for to fix it? its getting ridiculous getting 100 miles to a tank. I have been running mid grade (89) but i dont think that should be a problem.

    yea tell me about it

how do you check a o2 sensor? i've never had those before lol. im going to take the MAF out and see if i can clean it and probably buy a cheap airfilter if mine is dirty. i will be dynoing the 17th of march mainly to get a good air/fuel at WOT and cruising speed,

well i checked tire pressure, aaround 25psi in all tires. I think the dealer done that to make sure i had a nice ride before i bought it. I've only had it about 3 weeks so havent done a "tune up". it currently has 37k on the clock. I've checked the engine for leaks by the fuel rails and injectors but couldnt see a wetspot, but it was sitting still ideling. It could be sloshing out while under acceleration.

wouldn't happen to be the "1/2 tank to E" half would it?

even still that's alarmingly low. have you checked for leaks? do you cruise around in 1st gear?

Never fill up when you see the tanker refilling the tanks...never.

Sounds like it could be O2 sensors, but they should set the Check Engine light on if that was the case.

Even a dirty air filter could be the culprit. Check that, inflate the tires up to 32+ (i personally run 38psi). Your fuel filter might be clogged up and the plugs might be fouled. Check all these cheap little things and see what happens. If i remember correctly, i got around 270miles on a full tank. Its been awhile since ive driven it.

And make sure none of your brake calipers are sticking.

:stupid: I bought a used f150 a year ago, and while it was sitting there the calipers rusted and held the drivers side pad to the front rotor. I was left with a horrible smell, a burnt set of fingers and about $20 worth of gas gone getting it home. Does your car pull in any direction when you apply the brakes or drive straight Cobain?

I noticed mine wasnt heating up quite all the way, but damn close. Put a new thermostat in it and it uses alot less gas now, probably cause it was stuck in open loop. For what its worth, just check to see if its actually warming up all the way...I almost didnt even notice.

    ok guys im back

i took the car to a good shop and they hooked up a computer to and drove it. turned out that i had two cylinders missing (1 bad and one not so bad) and it only reached 181 degrees. Told me that since it was not reaching full temperature, that it was dumping more fuel in to make it hotter. Makes sense i guess.

so i replaced the T stat with a new one (195 degree), replaced two coils, and replaced all sparkplugs. im going for a 3 hour drive today so im gonna see how she does.

also, OT: how much anti-sieze do you use on plugs? i didnt know anybetter and put them in without any and saw that its really a must on these cars. i puleed them all and put some on there.
