Well, I don't post much here so I will tell you my story. Right after I purchased my Roush in May of '07 the rear end blew up. I replaced everything in the rear end except for the axles. I went with FRPP 4.10's and loved them. A little later I changed up the exhaust to a Mac O/R H with Super 44 Flowmasters, dumped right after the muffler. It made a slight difference, but I wanted more. Well in November of '07, I decided to get blown. I went with the Vortech V2 SQ S-Trim kit. The car pulls like a beast, but I am regretting the 4.10's, simply because I'm shifting so fast, stuggle for traction, and also that 93 octane is over $3.50. Other than better gas mileage, would I benefit at all by switching back to the stock 3.27 gearing, or possibly the slightly different 3.55?

Benefits would be slightly better gas mileage (ALOT of MPG depends on your drivning habits, just as much as the car).

Traction will be a little easier to find.

You wont run out of gear, or come close to running out of gear at the track.

The only cons I can think of are cost to perform a gear swap and the fact that you wont get into boost as quick since you have a centrifugal blower.

im blown and have 3.73's, they are ideal, right when i start spinning in first im shifting to second and then i have plenty of time to regain control for third

most anyone on here that have blowers will tell you that 3.73' are the way to go. Especially if you go to the track, with 4.10's you will have to shift into overdrive...

wrong! you don't have to switch into 5th gear at the track with 4.10s and a blower....i'm crossing the traps at 6k in 4th gear with my 4.10s....now that is with a 28" tall tire though...go smaller and you will have to pop it into 5th before crossing the traps...

    This is my fear.

If I go with a KB, the low end torque will own my tires with the 4.10s.

I may have to go with 3.55 gears in that case.

See someone actually told me that if I was to switch to either 3.27's, 3.55's, or at most 3.73's then I would benefit alot because it would allow me to stay in the power band a longer before having to change gears. Can someone elaborate on this or is it bull?

I'll let someone else handle the powerband debate but I have a KB 1.7 with 3:73's and I have zero traction in 1st, minimal in 2nd and scratching initiallly in 3rd with 285 BFG KDW's. It's made me learn how to feather the throttle for optimal traction instead of just mashing the pedal and if you have people who are easily impressed you can do big burnouts and drifting type manuevers without much problem. The centri blowers are different though.

    i've been payin $4.05 for 91 :nonono:

to get back on the thread topic, go with 3.55's or 3.73's.

3.73's are the way to go unless you are planning on running more power in the future so planning ahead is always wise, but at the same time be truthful as well. If you are gonna stay in the normal power range (8-10pis) you'll be fine with 3.73's and won't be running out of gear at the end of the track. If you are gonna be pushing it, then 3.55's will be the way to go unless you plan in running 28" tires at the track and some decent rubber on the street.

yea guess whats going to happen when you decide to upgrade again, you're right im sure you could get away with them at 370hp, anything over 400 though and theres a good chance your going to be shifting into fifth at the local 1/4 track
