im ordering a C&L racer intake-tune package and pypes off road x from brenspeed in 2wo weeks. i will also be installing delete plates that i just got from them. heres the Q...im putting the plates and intake on myself then im taking the car to a shop to install the x pipe. will it be ok to drive the car to the shop with the plates, intake and off road x tune installed but with the stock h pipe still on the car till i get it to the shop? dont want to hurt anything with the A/F ratio being off. hope you all can understand that stupid question. ps. im ordering steeda pulleys tomorrow!
You should ask the guys at Brenspeed to be sure but it shouldn't be a problem. An x-pipe doesn't require a tune as far as I know, the only adjustment to the tune would be to turn off the check engine light that you typically get when removing the cats. You know, the install on the off road H-pipe was pretty simple to do, I would imagine the x would be as easy. I just jacked up the drivers side and used a long extension to get to the collector bolts and a couple of box wrenches for the rest and it was pretty simple. You just neeed to be careful with the o2 sensors. You should save a few bucks by doing it yourself.
That should not be a problem, however there is always a chance with flash tunes that **** will happen, I'ld be cautious and run 93 octane fuel but the 91 octane tune just to be safe....with delete plates the car needs to run considerably more timing
When I ordered my H pype, intake and tune... I was told that I could run the h-pype tune with or without the h pype on. All the hype pype tune does is turn off the sensors so that your check engine light goes on.
As long as you are doing the tune yourself along with the c&l intake your car should run fine, as someone else said an exhaust does not require a tune. Im not sure if the plates require a tune or not but the intake does so make sure your tuner is calibrated for the plates as well if it is required. As far as the x pipe goes I would save the money and do it yourself.....tools needed, 7/8in open end wrench for the o2s, 5/8 socket with 10 inch extension for the header flange bolts and and 5/8 socket for band clamp bolts and about 45 minutes of time. And soak the header flange bolts with penetrating oil so you dont break them. If you have those tools and atleast 2 jack stands you shoud have no issues with the install and if you do then just get the shop to clean up any mistakes you make if any.
thanks for the info yall! i just ordered the steeda pulleys. ive looked at big cats wright up a few times. is there anything else i need to know before i start?
You might want to get a new bolt for the crank pulley so you are ready for the install when the pulleys arrive. If I remember correctly the Steeda instructions have you re-use the original bolt but I have heard it is a one time use bolt. It is probably worth the $5 or so to just get a new bolt so you don't have to worry about it.
