i cant believe this....the more I think about it....

I have gt40ps, cam, typhoon intake and turbos at 5psi i made 331/380 tq at the wheels...I dont have the best turbo cam but wow

I cant understand how you are making those numbers on STOCK heads!

I would maby believe if you had gt40's or other iorn aftermarket heads,,,,but no way on stockers!!!

thats almost 100 hp more than i was making at 5 psi!!! I havent had it dyon'd yet where i am now at 12 psi.

anyhow....If your doing it... WOW! gj man

heck yeah! This car feels really nice now. I drove my brother's stock mustang and it's like a slug!.. had to barrow it today while mine was in the paint booth...

    The dyno is a Dynojet.

And Flyby763, I dont see a power pipe in your sig, are you not running one?

I don't know either. I was hoping to put down like 320 or so to the wheels, but it just busted out that 400+ reading and I was in disbelief myself. But Tony over at HP assured me that it was reading correctly. I'll take a look at my heads and make sure they're stock (or not!)..

When it was originally tuned it did not have one. I installed one last week and have not gotten it tuned again.

for all of you in disbelief, my buddy made 360 to the wheels in a 90 lx fox with the same s/c, stock h/c/ and trickflow track heat intake w/ 8 psi boost. i would only assume another 5 psi could get him somewhere in the ballpark too  either way though, im impressed by how much the vortechs are puttin out. def more than my ex g/f:D

Doesn't that seem really low...considering you could probably pull off somewhere in the 280rwhp range with the h/c/i you have alone.

I bet the cam is the reason...

the stock cam responds to boost quite well

A local guy put down 415-425 with stock E7 heads, stock cam, gt40 intake and a vortec at 15lbs...he had every other damn bolt on and a speedbrain tuner but still pt down close to if not what you had...

Damn nice to see those combos put out that. :nice:

I did a bit of ball park figgerin with using Kyle's combo :)
    and
    Our original poster's combo :)

I've seen values of 10 to 15 rwhp per psi thrown out there
    soooooooo
I used a value of 12.5 to play with

Here is how I saw each combo by my figgerin :D

    Kyle

A typical GT40 combo will put out 260 to 280 rwhp in NA form

    5 psi is 62.5

    260@5psi = 322.5rwhp
    280@5psi = 342.5rwhp

The other combo really only has the following for power mods:
    Edel intake
    Shorties
    OR pipe

I would put it at 220 to 240 rwhp in NA form

    13 psi is 162.5

    220@13psi = 382.5
    240@13psi = 402.5

Again ... Just Ball Parkin Around Here ;)

If anybody can see where I'm not in the correct Ball Park :rlaugh:

Feel Free to give me directions to where all the rest of ya'll are playin :D

wow, nice .... but that seems more like 8# of boost to me.

i have always read that 14# of boost doubles the hp. so if you figure 280 for a gt40 combo, then 420 = 280+140 = 280 * 1.5, so the boost should be around 7#

is the percent of increase linear? in other words ... if you make 300 na, then 14# should add another 300, but would 7# ad 150?

I think its were the blower/turbo stops being effic. you will get dim. returns as its getting out of its "optimum" range. Maybe he has a better pully setup than stock (stock vortec) that makes the best boost numbers while not over spinning the charger at the higher rpm.

I have the stock 3.33 pulley on the blower now. It came with a tiney 2.70 Reichard pulley, but I swapped on the stocker because the little one would have probably split my block in half or done some other extensive damage.

it's not making that much now though because he tuned it down. I didn't get a final dyno run, I guess he figured it wasn't necessary, but he guaranteed me that is was making between 380 and 390 after the final program was burned. He only took out slight timing in the upper RPM's to keep it safe.

I'm debating on wether to build a 331 with a nice block or go 351. it's gonna eat away at me till I make up my mind, but I can go to a junk yard and get a 351 block for 50 bucks! Of course it needs rebuilt/machined, but so will the brand new 1700.00 R block, correct?
