I just bought some gt40 heads from a junkyard here in houston, $200 for the pair. The guy told me they were off a 98 explorer so i was expecting p heads, however when he brought them out i noticed the three bars and the gt cast in the head. I'm guessing that the heads must be off a 96 explorer because acording to some other threads, that was the only year the regular gt40's were used. Well now that I have the heads I was just wondering what I should do to ensure that they are ready to bolt on. i.e. replacing springs, valves, etc. Maybe go with a gt40 valvetrain kit??? I'm looking to not spend too much money though because this is meant to be a cheap street build. Tell me what yall think.
